In an instant, the music blared and a horror movie came to life. Metal rockers from Des Moines, Slipknot, cranked their amps and speakers to a new level for the last show of the night. Entering the stage at just after 10 PM, the band brought the house down. Sporting their new masks, the band left the audience screaming for more.

Slipknot, which includes 9 members, had a lightshow like no other band at Mayhem. Throughout the set, frontman Corey Taylor came to the edge of the pit to excite the crowd. Guitarists Mick Thompson and James Root, and bassist Paul Gray swarmed the front of the stage.

During the second song of the set, Slipknot’s two side drummers Chris Fehn and Shawn Crahan each grabbed single snare drums and ran to the front of the stage. At the end of the song, the two threw their drumsticks in the air in unison to the uproar of the crowd.

While the entire band was energetic and constantly in motion, none was more intense than #8 Corey Taylor. Even though he wore a mask, his emotion and energy was easily understood.
